Loftleidir Icelandic brand launched
Loftleiðir Icelandic used to be called Icelandair Charter & Leasing. It is a subsidiary of Flugleiðir hf. and a sister company of Icelandair.
In 1973, two Icelandic airlines; Loftleiðir and Flugfélag Íslands (Air Iceland), merged to form Flugleiðir (Icelandair).
Now, these two historic names have gained new life, Flugfélag Íslands has been used by Flugleiðir's domestic flight carrier for a while and now Loftleiðir will be remembered again.
Loftleiðir Icelandic operates charter services in Europe, North-America, and Central-America with 4 Boeing 757 aircraft, operating on Icelandair's AOC.
The company has signed two wet lease agreements involving operation of Boeing 767 aircraft. Delivery of the first B767 is scheduled for next month.
